15th Pravasi Bharatiya Divas Convention

The first Pravasi Bharatiya Divas convention was held on 9-11 Jan. 2003 to connect Indian diaspora to their mother land. Since then, the Govt. of India organises Pravasi Bharatiya Divas (PBD) every year in order to provide a plate-form/ forum to Indian diaspora, i.e. PIO/OCI/NRIS of Indian origin, for having positive dialogue and express their feelings & thoughts about the India.

The Govt. of India has decided to organize the 15th Pravasi Bharatiya Divas in partnership with Govt. of Uttar Pradesh on 21-23 January 2019 in the cultural and religious city of Varanasi (U.P.), so that the larger community of Indian Diaspora as well as Foreigners may be attracted to participate in prestigious Kumbha Mela and Republic Day celebration. The PBD Convention is likely to be inaugurated by the Hon’ble Prime Minister and Valedictory session to be chaired by Honble President of India.

he first day of 15th Pravasi Bharatiya Divas is reserved for youth PBD and the state Govt. shall also organise its fourth U.P. Pravasi Divas-2019 on the same day under the chairmanship of our Honble chief minister. The Govt. of U.P. Shall also honour the NRIs of the U.P. origin by conferring them the prestigious U.P. NRI Ratna Award for their extraordinary contribution in their field. The process for selection of U.P. NRI Ratna Award is likely to be started by the month of July/Aug, 2018.

The State Govt. has also decided to arrange visit for the participants of PBD convention on 23-24 January 2019 of prestigious Kumbha Mela/Snan from Varanasi to Allahabad by special trains and finally drop them at Delhi.
